A further explanation about our acquisition of ReceptoPharm
Posted on May 30th, 2008 by Rik Deitsch
Just over a month ago, we completed an exciting and important acquisition of the remaining equity in our drug discovery holding, ReceptoPharm. Even though it has taken more than a year and a half since we first signed a letter of intent to acquire them, we are just as excited today as we were in June 2006 about the opportunity to work with such a talented group of scientists to develop innovative drugs and bring them through the FDA approval process.
Before the acquisition, we had already developed a close relationship with the team at ReceptoPharm. We owned just over 38% of the Company and it acted as our drug discovery holding. Now that the acquisition is officially complete, we are going to be working even more closely to provide them with the resources they will need to initiate and complete human clinical trials for several indications.
Our number one goal here at Nutra Pharma is to develop innovative treatments for some of the most pernicious medical disorders. Since our first opportunity to work with ReceptoPharm, we have felt that the goals of our two companies closely aligned. It is for this reason that our acquisition was just a natural progression of our relationship over the past several years.
Currently we are conducting a Phase IIb/IIIa trial for the treatment of Adrenomyeloneuropathy, a disease for which there is no current treatment. This trial is scheduled to be completed this summer.
Now that ReceptoPharm is a part of the Nutra Pharma family, we will be focusing even more on our efforts to bring treatments through the FDA approval process. In the short-term, we are planning to initiate Phase II clinical trials for the treatment of HIV and Multiple Sclerosis and begin trials for Feline Leukemia Virus. As we continue, we plan on expanding our development to include additional trials for Herpes, pain, Rabies, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
While it is never clear what obstacles we will face in the future, there is one thing we do know for certain; by combining forces with ReceptoPharm we are now better prepared than ever to successfully achieve our drug development goals.
